FEATURE & FOLLOW (#1): 10 REASONS I LOVE MY FAVORITE GENRE(S)

"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope."

Dr. Seuss

*Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee. The goal is to increase blog followers, make friends and have something to post. So, check it out and participate!!!

Why I love Fantasy, Horror and Sience Fiction, you say? Well, because...

  • ...there are badass women all around

These genres have the most strong, both physically and psychologically, women in the world of books. They have no other choice than to be hardcore and they do it with pleasure.

  • ...our heroes face villains that are truly villainous

Forget about random teenager bullies built like tanks and with brains the size of peas, these people have to fight against intergalactical companies or whatever. That's scary.

  • ...sideckicks are way cooler than in the other genres

Come on. They have robots, ghosts, mythical beasts or fucking dragons as their BFFs. Come on.

  • ...we discover amazing (or amazingly horrifying) worlds

I don't care if it's a beautiful land with castles in the sky, a decrepit cabin in the woods or a ginormous spaceship in the galaxy of thatstoofuckingfar. It's better than our boring cities.

  • ...usually, the stories are metaphors of our current society

It can be pretty fascinating/depressing when you're reading something that seems, at least initially, awfully farfetched, but when you think about it a little bit more you're like: "Oh, shit. This could happen or this is kinda happening right now." Minus the monsters, of course.

  • ...our inner child is happy to believe everything is possible again

We have lost some of that innocence and magic that we had when we were kids. We are too busy with everyday crap to be searching for faeries in the woods or to believe that anything can happen. We need these stories about regular people facing the extraordinary to teach us that we can do it too.

  • ...sparks your imagination

If you want to be a writer but you're a bit scared, the authors of these stories show us that you can create whatever the hell you want and that someone will love it. You want to do a story about a puppy with superpowers that saves the world from evil mutant sloths? Why the fuck not?

  • ...it's a great escape from your everyday life

Everybody has millions of problems that they find too difficult to deal with, sometimes. That's why these stories exist. The Queen of Marvelousland probably doesn't have the same problems as you do. Deal with hers for a while.

  • ...puts your problems into perspective

So you have lost your job, or you have debts to pay or your boyfriend / girlfriend has left you... Be glad that you're not getting your face eaten by zombies, I guess. JK. Real life sucks.

  • ...they're an awesome preparation for the Apocalypsis

We, the freaks that know all the ways you can kill a vampire or why if you see a bunch of lights in the sky you have to gtfo of there, are gonna survive the end of the world, someday. When the aliens come, the people that doesn't read fantasy, sci fi or horror are as good as dead.

    1. Thank you for your comment and sorry for the late response!

You kind of have to sing it as you read it, it's too difficult not to :)

By the way, your blog's name is cute as hell too.
